Is this one of those "pyramid schemes"?
"Pyramid" is
a phrase and perception associated with early attempts at network
marketing. Some companies have used pyramids to create rapid growth
without a legitimate marketing model, or strong products and/or
services. This resulted in the "pyramid" perception that "the people
at the top make all the money and the people at the bottom make
none," and that network marketing was a "scam." "Illegal Pyramid
Schemes" and "Network Marketing" are two different things. The shape
of a company or business model has nothing to do with it's
legitimacy. The pyramid is in fact the strongest geometric shape
known and is the shape of any organization from corporations, to the
military and government and even your family tree.

Why network marketing?
Years ago, the concept of franchising was viewed with suspicion. In
fact franchising came within 11 votes of being declared illegal by
Congress. Because of the success of companies like McDonalds, AAMCO
Transmissions, Kwik-Kopy and SuperCuts, franchising is now regarded
as a legitimate business model.
Network marketing, or Direct Sales, like franchising before it, is rapidly becoming
recognized as one of the most equitable and powerful marketing
models in the world when properly applied by legitimate companies.
Robert Kiyosaki, best selling author of the Rich Dad Poor Dad books,
refers to network marketing as "personal franchising." Mr. Kiyosaki
endorses network marketing as, "A way for the average person without
much money to keep their daytime job and really build an asset that
sets them free."
Over 48 million people are involved in network marketing and it
accounts for annual sales of over $90 billion a year.
Why are major corporations turning to network marketing?
Major
corporations are rapidly discovering that the billions of dollars
they spend annually on traditional forms of advertising are becoming
more and more expensive and less and less effective. Digital
recorders and "TIVO" units now allow viewers to edit out and skip
television commercials, the national no call list has limited access
to phone marketing, satellite radio offers commercial free
alternatives to broadcast radio, spam blocking software limits
advertising access to the internet.
Why do major corporations like Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, General
Motors, Toyota , Citibank, General Electric Xerox and Coca Cola
market some or all of their products through network marketing?
Because network marketing provides a "missing link" for these major
companies. That is the power of the relationships that we all have
with our family, friends and people we know. This powerful form of
"relationship marketing" allows these major companies access to the
most loyal customer base possible in the most efficient way possible
and they're willing to pay people like you and me for that access.
This isn't sales is it? I'm not a salesperson.
In reality
we're all salespersons. We all have "sold" an employer on hiring us,
or "sold" a friend on seeing a movie or eating at a restaurant we
like. Direct Sales is just like this - it's telling friends and
people you know about a business, service or product you're excited
about and asking them to help you build your business by becoming
your business partner or customer. The difference is now you're
getting PAID for it. Your friends and family trust you, and in
exchange for becoming your customer, they have a trusted "friend in
the business" that will look after their interests and provide
convenience. This nationwide, grass roots form of relationship
marketing has created the most loyal customer base in business
history.
